Mitchell Starc Clarifies Retirement Remark After ‘19 Tests’ Comment

Online Desk :

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has sparked brief speculation about his retirement after joking that he could “ride off into the sunset” once he completes his next 19 Test matches. The remark came during an appearance on the Keepin’ It Cricket podcast, where Starc was discussing his workload and plans for the next 18 months.

Starc is targeting 21 Tests during that period and has already played two, leaving 19 in his planned schedule. However, he quickly made it clear that the comment was not an announcement of his retirement, saying he still has plenty of cricket left to play.

The 36-year-old has already retired from T20 internationals to manage his workload and focus on Test cricket and the ODI format. He has also kept the 2027 ODI World Cup in his plans.

For now, Starc remains focused on Australia’s upcoming international commitments, with no immediate retirement from Test or ODI cricket announced.
